Unemployment among individuals in the United States with research doctorates in science, engineering, and health (SEH) fields was 2.4% in October 2010, up from 1.7% in October 2008. The average national unemployment rate in 2010 for individuals aged 25 or older was 8.2%. Unemployment was lowest among individuals with doctorates in mathematics and statistics (1.5%) and psychology (1.7%). Among SEH doctorate holders, 76% worked full time and 10% worked part time.
